“Blade Runner 2049” is truly one sequel that nailed it right. Thirty-five years since the original “Blade Runner,” the sequel smoothly transitions thirty years into the future. LAPD officer and blade runner, K (Ryan Gosling), discovers a buried secret that holds the key to the stability of society, and embark on new mission to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD officer and blade runner. Much of the costuming, setting, and sound effects still holds the 1980’s style from the original movie. One downside to the sequel is some lengthy slow moments in the story, which the movie could have been better trimmed by about 30 minutes. It is strongly recommended that you watch the original “Blade Runner” before watching the sequel as there are many references to the original in the sequel. Aside from some slow moments, “Blade Runner 2049” is a fantastic sci-fi thriller worth seeing in the theaters.
I rate “Blade Runner 2049” an 8 out of a 10.
